Big Cypress National Preserve
Fresh water from the Big Cypress swamp flows south into the Everglades and on into the Ten Thousand Islands. Originally intended to be part of Everglades National Park, it became the first National Preserve (simulataneously with Big Thicket in Texas). Big Cypress is the most ecologically diverse land component of the Everglades area and thus is a wonderland for nature lovers.
